Programming
The Programming department is split into three teams: Daytime; Specialist Music; and Specilaist Speech. Each team has different responsibilities concerning the programming of the station. The department is always looking for individuals interested in presenting live and pre-recorded shows. No presenting experience is required. In order to get a chance to present, all you need is to be happy to talk on air, have a keenness to perpetuate debate with cutting questions, or an interest in taking your first steps to become a radio presenter.
Daytime Team
Lead by the Daytime Programmer, Rupert Bhatia, this team is responsible for all daytime music and all daytime slots. The Daytime Programmer also looks after the Daytime Presenters, a task which is not taken lightly because only the best presenters get the opportunity to present daytime. The team helps load songs onto the system, does research to find the most up to date songs and decides what songs CSR will actually play on a regular basis.
Specialist Music Team
One of the jobs of the Specialist Music Team is to review singles and albums which are sent to us from various record labels and then recommend what should make it onto the CSR playlist. As well as this Specilaist Music Presenters belong to the Specialist Music Team, these presenters are people who have a passion for a certain type of music which they wish to share with the listeners of CSR. Another job of the Specialist Music Team, which is lead by the Specialist Music Programmer, Andrew Venning, is to regularly record local bands at various venues, and then either interview them or write reviews of the gigs.
Specialist Speech Team
As a member of the Specialist Speech Team you can be a part of many types of shows. CSR's Specialist Speech Team is the largest team within the programming department and creates a vast range of shows. The Specialist Speech Programmer, Danny Pegg, has split his team between Entertainment and Factual. The Co-Heads of the Entertainment Team (Emma Wilcox and Rick Suter) and the Head of the Factual Team (Louise Billingham) help the Specialist Speech Programmer produce all speech shows he sanctions. Some members are writers, directors or actors for speech programmes such as: radio plays, sitcoms, dramas or monologues. They also provide ideas, perform research to aid the team, produce documentaries and interviews and/or work closely with the Production Team in the final production stages of these speech programmes. The Specilaist Speech Programmer also looks after all speech presenters. Our station tries to produce unique shows that are relevant to our target audience.
